ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

WHAT IS ROOT CANAL TREATMENT?

Root canal treatment is part of endodontics, the part of dentistry which deals in canal treatments. Whether we are talking about an aching tooth which needs to be devitalised or  if it is a prosthetically needed de-vitalisation, it is essential that we give special attention to canal treatments.

Root Canal Treatment

HOW IS A ROOT CANAL TREATMENT DONE?

Methods of treatment have become more and more complex and ensure top quality results. For greater accuracy, the endodontist uses electronic equipment, rotative canal treatment systems, dental radiology and superior optic equipment: an optic microscope and professional magnifiers.

I was having terrible pains; I couldn't even sleep at night! I got to DentAplus where my root canal  of my jaw tooth was treated. I can say that they literally took away my pain.

YOU ASK, OUR SPECIALISTS ANSWER

Q: Is it going to hurt?
A: As painful as root canals can be, as painless it is to remove the vital pulp. The procedure is done with a local anaesthetic, and as a result the patient doesn't feel a thing.

Q: How long does it take to perform the root canal treatment?
A: If the tissue which is to be removed is not infected, then its removal and the consequent filling can take place during the same visit. However, if there is a root infection, there will be one or more intermediary sessions to treat the infection before the final filling can be done.

Q: Is it normal for the dentist to do several X-rays in order to remove vital pulp?
A: Yes, it is perfectly normal for the evolution and the result of the root canal treatment to be evaluated via X-rays. One must not fear being exposed to the rays because the equipment available nowadays emits infinitesimal amounts of radiation. Actually, if we spent a whole day outdoors we'd be exposing ourselves to more radiation than if we'd have a set of X-rays done for all our teeth.

Q: What is there to be doe after the root canal treatment?
A: A tooth without its vital pulp becomes a dead tooth, so it is easier to break and more fragile. That is why it is highly recommended that once a tooth has had root canal treatment it should be capped with a crown.
