SCALING

WHAT IS SCALING?

Scaling is the procedure through which the dentist removes plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces. It is a painless process which is however essential to the maintenance of oral health.

Dental Scaling

WHEN DO I NEED SCALING?

On average, it is recommended that you have a scaling treatment done every six months. The speed with which tartar deposits are made varies greatly from person to person. Thus, some people might require such treatment more frequently. An evaluation done by the dentist can help establish the frequency necessary for scaling.

WHAT IS A PROPER SCALING DONE?

Even though it is the most frequent dental procedure, a scaling should not be approached shallowly. It requires a great deal of attention, including the use of both special fine hand tools and an ultrasound scaling machine. Ideally, a scaling treatment is done together with airflow treatments, polishing and professional brushing and a final application of fluoride, in a complete dental cleaning packet.

PATIENTS TESTIMONIALS

Ever since I've picked up the habit of going regularly to scaling treatments I have stopped having trouble with bleeding gums or bad smelling breath. I wish to thank the doctors at DentAplus for helping me overcome my fear of dentists.

YOU ASK, OUR SPECIALISTS ANSWER

Q: Does a scaling treatment hurt?
A: A scaling treatment is a painless procedure. If the dentist identifies some sensitive areas on the teeth, the intensity of the scaling machine will be modified correspondingly to avoid producing pain.

Q: If I get a scaling treatment done, will I damage my teeth?
A: No, quite the contrary! A correctly done scaling is an uninvasive procedure and does in no way harm the dental structure. Avoiding scaling treatment, on the other hand, can favour the appearence of bacteria population at tooth level and gum level, which will ultimately lead to cavities and peridontal problems.
