TOOTH EXTRACTION

WHAT IS DENTAL SURGERY

Regarding dentistry, surgery is a very vasy domain which contains diverse interventions, from jaw tooth extractions to bone resections to adding biomaterials.

WHAT CAN EXTRACT A JAW TOOTH?

Depending on the complexity of the surgical intervention, the performing surgeon should be specialised and have competencies in that area. For example, a simple extraction can be done by any dentist. Dental implants and bone additions must be done by dentists specialised in oral implantology, while an apex resection must be done by an oral surgeon.

PATIENTS TESTIMONIALS

One of my jaw teeth was beyond recovery. At DentAplus I had it extracted and an implant inserted the very same day. I practically left there with a new tooth in a matter of hours, without any pain or stress.

YOU ASK, OUR SPECIALISTS ANSWER

Q: Is it going to hurt?
A: Few things scare patients more than an extraction. Despite that, a dental extraction, as all the other dental procedures, is painless as long as the correct technique for the local anaesthetic is used.

Q: How long does the recovery last?
A: The level of the post-surgery discomfort is diretly related to the difficulty of the extraction. If the extraction occurs easily, the patient will feel as good as new the following day. There are, however, more complicated extractions (e.g. the wisdom tooth extraction) where the discomfort can last two.three days. In any way, due to the post-surgical treatment with antiinflammatories and antibiotics, the level of discomfort is manageable or even easy to ignore.

Q: What should be done after the extraction ?
A: The empty space left after a tooth has been extracted should not be left unprotected. When lacking a replacement for the missing tooth, the neighbouring teeth can start to migrate and thus cause periodontal problems, pain in the articulations, interdental spaces which cannot be cleaned properly and the appearence of cavities. Treatment solutions are dental implants or dentures- fixed of mobile (crowns or dentures).
